Helen Ramirez is currently living in the small town of Hadleyville in the New Mexico Territory. The town has cleaned up a lot over the last few years, thanks to Marshal Kane, but it's still like any other place where the goodguys and the badguys might end up facing each other down in the dusty main street.

Mrs. Ramirez hates it. She does all right for herself, but the people have had little but contempt for a Mexican woman living independently.
